Being a teenager these days is a lot different than it was twenty years
ago. Trying to keep up with school, clubs, sports, friends, family,
relationships, jobs, and life in general can be pretty crazy. Finding
time for God is kinda tough to do sometimes. Here at Middlebury FUMC,
we take a little bit of time each week to focus on God and what it
means to live as a Christian in today's world.
Wednesday Nights
Every Wednesday night we meet at the
church for youth group. This gives us a chance to take a break from a
busy week and fellowship with each other. It is a time to come
together, share our lives, and experience real community. We dig deep
into what it means to be a Christian and how that affects our every day
lives. Wednesday nights consist of anything from playing games and
sharing stories to engaging in deep discussions and devoting time to
prayer for one another. The jr. high group meets from 6-7pm every
Wednesday night. This crazy group loves to have fun and joke around,
but we also take time for serious discussion and digging into what God
has for

us. This group is open to anyone in grades 6-8. The sr. high
group meets from 7-8pm though it isn't uncommon for us to go a few
minutes past 8. This awesome group is able tohave fun no matter where they are or who they are with and Wednesday nights are no exception.
Sunday Mornings
We meet every Sunday morning at 10:15 (immediately following the 9am
worship service here at FUMC.) Sunday mornings are a little different
than Wednesday nights. These gatherings are for both jr. and sr. high
and they focus more on studying particular issues. This time focuses
more on digging into God's word and seeing what it says about different
issues. As with any time we get together, we still take time to deepen
our relationships and pray with one another. These morning gatherings
are a great way to discover the awesome truths in the Bible and grow
together.
That's it?
No way! Sure we meet every Wednesday
and Sunday, but that is just the tip of the iceberg. We have tons of
other activities as well as random times when we just meet up and hang out. We go to concerts, camps, and retreats. We have lock-ins,
parties, and all sorts of other fun activities. More importantly, we
also live out our faith by helping others. We do things to make the
world around us a better place. We strive to love people as Jesus
loves people. We do this through serving others and putting ourselves
last. We participate in different service projects as well as mission
trips tohelp those who are less fortunate than us.
Parents!
Every week I email parents a quick update of what is going on in the
life of our group. Parents play a huge role in the success of our
programs, and we could not do it without them. If you are a parent who
is reading this and wants more info, feel free to contact me at
fumcyouth@maplenet.net. I would love to add you to the weekly email
update or answer any questions you mave have!
