Peggy Yeater, Organist
Music has always been a part of Peggy's life and a lot of it has been
in music ministry at the church, of which Peggy is a lifetime
member. She sang in the church choir starting in high
school and studied piano for 10 years and then turned to the organ.
Peggy is the third generation church organist at FUMC. Her
grandmother Thelma Hout, served as organist for almost 50 years,
retiring in 1992. Her mother, Bev Miller substituted through the
years as necessary. When Peggy moved back to the area she began
organ lessons and played when her grandmother was away and shared
services during the 80’s and 90’s. She has been the full time
organist since her grandmother retired. She also enjoys playing
in the hand bell choir.
Peggy and her husband Steve have two grown children, Carrie Smith who
lives in Indianapolis and Matt who lives in Middlebury. They also
have two adorable granddaughters, Anna and Alaina Yeater. Maybe
they will be the next generation of musicians at our church!
