Pastoral Role
The pastor is ordained to
the ministry of Word, Sacrament and Order and serves as the spiritual
director to the congregation and to others seeking to connect to God.
The pastor oversees the administration and other general ministries of
First UMC. These responsibilities include helping the congregation
define future mission and vision, providing financial accountability,
and lending direction to present programming ministries. The pastor,
with the support of staff, prepares the worship and preaching calendar,
leads Biblical and topical studies, provides for pastoral care and
counseling, crisis care, weddings and funerals. The pastor also works
with the elected trustees to provide for the upkeep of church property
and facilities.
Typical Schedule
The pastor may be reached
at the church office 825-2585, 8 AM – 5 PM, Mondays through Thursdays.
Calls are also welcome at the parsonage 825-3537. The pastor is in the
office most mornings unless she has hospital visits. Some afternoons
are spent on home visitation and sermon preparation. Many evenings
include Bible studies and ministry meetings. If she is not immediately
available please leave a message and she will return a call as soon as
possible.
