Alice Morris, Director of Children’s Ministries
Alice began her Children’s Ministry in
Middlebury in August 2004. She and her husband, Rich live in
Elkhart and have two adult sons living in Mishawaka and Herlan, IN.
Alice graduated from IUSB with a degree in English Literature.
She enjoys reading, writing and gardening.
The two main areas of children’s ministries
take place Sunday morning and Wednesday evening. On Sunday, the
children hear a “mini-sermon” and then are invited to go downstairs for
children’s church. We have expanded the children’s church program
to include both services. During Kids Hour, preschoolers explore
their faith through Bible verses, songs, prayers, games and
crafts. Kindergarten through 5th graders study the Bible with the
workshop rotation model, using art, cooking, crafts, games, science
& computers.
On Wednesday evening the children come to
the Promise Land Club. This program is open to children of our
church and the community. This year, we are including
preschoolers in the program, and right now that is our largest
class! Each week we begin with shared time of community where
birthdays and special events are celebrated, children receive Bibles
and prizes, and prayers and songs are shared. Then the children
are divided up by ages, and each group studies a Bible lesson and
applies it to their own lives. The Promise Land Club is a fun
experience where faith and accountability become more real.
