The pastor may be reached at the church office 825-2585, 8 AM – 5 PM, Mondays through Thursdays. The pastor is in the office most mornings unless he has hospital visits. Some afternoons are spent on home visitation and sermon preparation. Many evenings include Bible studies and ministry meetings. If he is not immediately available please leave a message and he will return a call as soon as possible.
Ron and his wife Lori moved to Middlebury in July of 2013 from Pekin Indiana. Ron has served as Senior Pastor for over 18 years in Pekin and Corydon, Indiana. Ron served in the military for 4 years and attended Indiana University, where he graduated from Indiana University, with a degree in psychology. After working 18 years in business Ron received the call from God to the ministry. and continued his education at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary Ron and Lori have 2 children and 4 grandchildren and love all kinds of water sports especially water skiing and boating. They also enjoy camping, hiking, reading, hunting, riding their bikes both Schwinn and Harley! Ron and Lori have a strong faith in God and love helping others come to know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior. Faith, family and fellowship is most important to them and feel that Middlebury is the place God has sent them to do His work of spreading the good news of Jesus Christ.
The pastor is ordained to the ministry of Word, Sacrament and Order and serves as the spiritual director to the congregation and to others seeking to connect to God. The pastor oversees the administration and other general ministries of First UMC. These responsibilities include helping the congregation define future mission and vision, providing financial accountability, and lending direction to present programming ministries. The pastor, with the support of staff, prepares the worship and preaching calendar, leads Biblical and topical studies, provides for pastoral care and counseling, crisis care, weddings and funerals. The pastor also works with the elected trustees to provide for the upkeep of church property and facilities.
