Peggy is a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church and is the 3rd generation of organists in the church. She follows her grandmother, Thelma Hout who was organist for 70 years, and her mother Beverly Miller, who filled in periodically over 25 years.
Peggy's music career started with the study of piano for 12 years, and playing organ/piano duets for church with her grandmother. In 1978 she took organ lessons with her grandmother, travelling to Bluffton Indiana to study uner Max Stuckey. In 1982 she started filling in on occasion for her grandmother and then in May of 1990 became the full time organist.
Peggy love sharing her talent and musical ministry at the church, playing the new organ purchased in 2000. She enjoys a wide range of music styles, especially classical, then many seasons of the church year and enjoys playing music for the traditional service each Sunday. Peggy also accompanies the church choir, plays in the hand bell choir, serves on the building committee, is on the church council and is chair person of the
Peggy and her husband Steve live in Middlebury, and have a son Matt and a daughter Carrie,
and 5 granddaughters.
